Not working with WYSIWYG API

It may be just that I'm a noobie and not got things set up right - but Editview doesn't save when using Rich text editors with WYSIWYG API (6.X-1.2) and Drupal 6.x. (using TinyMCE 3.2.3.1 and FCKeditor 2.6.4). Nothing is updated if stay within rich text editor. However it will update if rich text is disabled before saving (will also update even if rich text is switched back on before save). i.e. it updates only what there was when rich text was disabled.
A quick fix might be to have the 'save button' disable rich text before saving (then re-enabling again after).
