I have created a survey (going through the create content section) and had no problems. However, I can not figure out how to have it appear on the page I want it to? How can I specify where it appears?

What module are you using to create your survey? The "survey.module" is now completely unsupported. If you're using webform.module, you should ask the question in the Webform issue queue.
