Google Code also has a Friendconnect module for Drupal -- see http://code.google.com/p/google-friend-connect-plugins/

Is it the same module, or a different version of what's here on d.o.? Which one to follow / use?

This module is to be the 'offical' version of the Friend Connect module for Drupal. The one posted on Google Code was a proof-of-concept module only, and I have the permission of the original author and the Friend Connect team to host and maintain it here.

I will revise the project page shortly with a clarification. Thanks for bringing this up!
