The only usecase for my site is embedding content without links. Rather than make my users in each and every case use the nolink tag, is it possible to turn off automatic linking by default?

Currently not. Maybe it is a good idea to provide a menu where the admin can activate options by default. I can't say if I'll have the time to implement this. Patches are welcome.

While preparing the Filter for the Button Interface I've refactored the internal option handling. Options can be disabled now and they can have properties (in preparation for the hooks that will come in future).

Using those properties it is possible to flag an option as active per default. See attached image.
