Using nodeapi('form_post') it is possible to add a checkbox to the bottom of all nodes where someone can instantly subscribe to that thread.

the default value of this checkbox should be determined by the user pref for 'automatically subscribe'. upon submitting the new node, we should re-save 'automatically subscribe' pref so that this new checkbox always gets the value that was last used. i propose also to remove the UI for automatic subscribe on the user profile page and use this mechanism instead.

I'd like to add this same checkbox to the comment form but comments don't offer an api for adding to their form. kjartan - help us!.

I misunderstood the behavior of 'autosubscribe'.

Lets reduce the scope of this request to adding a checkbox on the node/add forms which adds a subscriuption to that node. No larger behavior change is needed ... I am about commit this feature, so marking a FIXED.
