Hi, I'm just curious. Whenever I tried to load someone's else Drupal or ezPublish website, it load instantly slow. It is as if the server isn't responding. I waited about 5-6s, and then the server started sending me the HTML/images. The interesting thing is that clicking on other pages afterwards didn't have the same problem.

My speculation is whether or not Drupal (or any bloated CMS) just warming up...

Anyone else seen this problem before?

What speed is you internet conenction. By the sounds of it there are big css files and alot of images used in it. Once they have been downloaded then they dont need to be again so the site will be faster.

Do you experience the same startup delay with this rather "barbone" drupal site (4.7 beta3)?

can be bad configured httpd, mysqld, slow or full internet connection, slow cpu, not enough memory, not enough swap.

there are a couple of pages on how to optimise drupal and php on drupal.org. installing an php accelerator helped for my site--

Well, I'm trying to access portableapps.com

The site is pretty slow... from where I'm - Hong Kong. But other non-CMS site runs fast.
