This is from dcor of the Galway group - see issue #449924: Notes regarding Getting Started and Cookbook docs
It relates to the Adding images to your text page of the Cookbook: http://drupal.org/node/163346
Basically, the page is out of date and disorganized.
Two specific comments from dcor:
a) I'd say this page needs a lot of revision work! Include a comparison of what's good, what's bad, what's ugly... or just link to the page that does.
b) IMCE information is outdated
And one additional note from me: the section at the bottom where the author lists what he/she is currently using is also outdated, because the TinyMCE module is now deprecated.

MGParisi commented@jhodgdon I am going to find out about making a D6 and version of the cookbook so that you can make these edits directly. You're finding lots of great things that need to be fixed, it's awesome! Can you help us out by making these changes directly? It's great to have them chronicled, but it would be even more awesome if you could go ahead and make the changes directly. Your current tickets are...
#469532: Cookbook needs to be more careful about platform/distro
#469544: Cookbook Modules and Themes page needs work
#469416: Review and expand Basic Configuration page of Cookbook
#469464: Header text on "Before you Start" page is intimidating
#469436: Incorporate and/or archive Cookbook page
There are more. You can find all of your issues in the sidebar by navigating to Issues -> My issues.
It is generally accepted that if you want to make changes then go ahead and make them...we've got revision control on each of the pages so we can go back to a previous version if something is really wrong (this rarely happens though as it's generally better to edit "forward" instead of "backwards.") If you feel a change needs a review, make a change then ask for a review. We can look at the revision history and offer suggestions or improve on what you do.
Edit: Thanks to those for helping me reflect my true feelings better! It was pointed out to me that my original post was a bit harsh. I apologize for that.

MGParisi commentedI just heard that some people dont have access to some of the pages. I dont know if I was made admin, my ticket to become admin was never responded too.
@jhodgdon if you cant edit them, please tell me. We might be able to give you access to do it!

MGParisi commentedFixed Formating... Was very ugly...
MGParisi commentedI was going to fix this page, but eventually I came to the conclussion that the best method for this page to exist is to list various modules which handles image processing. In addition this entire area is changing, and why limit it to images, how about sound and video?
See the trap!
Moving the page to archived. This is self described as advanced info (which doesn't belong in the beginner cookbook, and is duplicated out of date info. I have no interest in preserving pages for the sake of preservation. The handbook is meant to be simple site setup, it states that in the original and now revised intro.

jhodgdonMGParisi: I can edit the pages, that is not the problem. Please read the top of this issue and check out the linked issue #449924: Notes regarding Getting Started and Cookbook docs for more information: this came from *someone else's comments* at a session I was not present at. I was merely the person who parsed through all of their comments and filed issues on the more major things I couldn't fix at that particular moment.

add1sun commentedI also just want to leave a quick comment that for the time being we should definitely not break up the Cookbook by shifting things around or Archiving. The book has a history and is a bit of a special case in our handbooks. We can wait for the new IA to do any major modifications.
That said, these issues that @jhodgdon has opened on it should definitely stay open unless really fixed. If this page has been archived already, please restore it.

chachasikes commentedhttp://drupal.org/node/163346 -- mndonx and i finished rewriting this page. we broke the page up into 'easy/medium/difficult' and filled in all of the modules that are commonly used to handle images. we added summaries to each of these - which are meant to provide an overview for someone just trying to get a handle on the differences between image handling systems (and how that effects adding the images to your text.)
