Hi all,
I am mildly surprised that drupal is lacking in these areas, given the fact these are really mundane requirements, commercially speaking.
I very much appreciate if you have a work-around idea using whatever D6 modules are available.
I need a reservation system for a upper-end restaurant. I already deploy Ubercart.
I hv scanned all the modules we hv but I cannot see a workaround yet. The closest is MERCI but they mentioned that a stable release is much hoped for after July. MERCI is quite a project and there are trickle-down effects on other drupal module development, I think.

I've also been looking for this recently, but haven't got far enough to start to try out modules. There are quite a lot of them, but I haven't found any that look really promising yet. For my needs (car sharing where you want to book a specific car, not just any car), http://drupal.org/project/resource_conflict looks ideal except the 6.x version doesn't work.
There's also http://groups.drupal.org/booking-systems , you might find some useful hints there.
TKS I have scanned most of it but will relook
Being a big drupal fan sure cuts into me especially if you run into this, for example:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/vertical-markets/booking-&-reser...
especially TableBoss.

Most of those are commercial-- including tableboss. I haven't used joomla for a while now, but i venture to guess the non-commercial ones fall short in one aspect or another. The drupal economy functions somewhat differently-- you could probably gather a few users who wish this type of functionality, put a bounty together for a module like this, and end up paying less than you would for one of those commercial joomla options.

indeed ... another very
indeed ... another very useful is openresort. This is closest to a real booking system.
Pitty it's not based on views/calendar module.
In my opinion, i've read it somewhere in the booking-api thread.
We would need a content-type resource with a date cck field linked to it and a status-field for each date.
A content-type booking with a date cck field linked to it with a statusfield for that node type (booked, pending, ...).
There should be some function permitting to do resource conflicts. And you should be able to sort custom views, like
sorting bookings per regio
sorting available resources
sorting unavailable resources (booked resources)
I need this kind of module too
+1
I also need to have this functionality in Drupal. I'm going to build some hotel websites with reservation system for clients but current modules do not seem to serve the requirements.
