[this is a duplicate but i don't have time to look up a match, just do a search in the module's issues]

you've run into a "feature" of the event module, it only displays calendars for months with events. i put feature in quotes because it always confuses people and they report it as a bug. i'd prefer that it just let you tab through months.

if your statement were true, it were a bug. The feature is to not show links to later (previous) months after (before) the last (first) event. This appears not to be what this report is about.

OK, i think i see what's happening. The next arrows (>>) jumps 30 days ahead to march 2, and (<<) jumps to december 30. [note: today is currently january 30th]. So because 30 days ahead of now is beyond february, it goes to march.

Call it a feature? If so, I'm sorry to say I consider it a problem. Am I not correct in thinking that most << and >> features on a calendar are for previous month and next month?

I think this should be put as a bug personally, but is you want to recategorize it as a "feature request", so be it.

Thanks for any movement on this if someone has the energy, it would really help tighten up the calendar module.

Thanks
Jeff

[sorry about the above, apparently i am not allowed to type a parenthesis followed by two greater-than sign followed by a close parentheses.]

So the BACK-BACK (this means double less-than sign) goes back 30 days to december 30, and the FORWARD-FORWARD (you got it, double greater-than sign) goes forward 30 days to march 2. [note: it's currently jan 30th on my calendar]. So that's how it skips february all together.

You might want to call this a "feature", but I would rather call it a problem. Isn't it common expectation for a user to click on the BACKBACK and get the previous month, and the FORWARD-FORWARD to show next month?

I think this should get moved into the bug category, but If someone wanted to categorise it as a "feature request", so be it. In any case, I think that correcting this somehow would really make event a stronger and more user friendly module. Just trying to be helpful.

Thanks,
Jeff

sorry, killes pointed out to me on IRC that I was probably wrong in marking this a duplicate.

There are several threads on this issue for both 4.6 and 4.7 but all are basically the same and they affect not only the month of February, are not related to timezone settings, and don't have anything to do with whether or not there is an event scheduled in the skipped month.

To replicate the problem, create an event on the last day of March, go to the full calendar for that month and select the "event" link on the event. That will move you to the day "31" on that month's calendar. Then try to go backwards or forwards and you will skip a month, which is certainly not desireable or expected behavior. You don't see this unless you somehow get the 31st day of the month selected before you try to move to another month (or are on the 29th or 30th of January or March and try to move into February), which is why it seems erratic and not everyone is seeing it.

Someone proposed what is probably the simplest solution -- have the back/next links automatically reset to the first day of the month. When you're going from one full month calendar to another full month calendar, it probably doesn't really matter what day is selected, so it might as well be a valid one. :-)
