Absolutely, but at this time it's postponed to get the major modules rewritten, working and tested.

I took a stab to see if this could be easily added, and it appears that it is! I should be able to commit the multilingual support tonight!

I just committed the first attempt at multilingual sitemap support. See http://drupal.org/cvs?commit=218384. I'm going to consider this fixed. Please open separate issues if anyone finds any bugs.
