I read the readme file and tried inputting lightbox and even lightframe into the class section under admin/print settings, but I am having no luck getting it to open in lightbox.

Maybe the lightbox users/developers can help you with this..

I have just read the documentation of the ligthbox module and it seems they don't use the class attribute for the lightbox tag, they prefer to use the rel attribute.. I'm not sure that the rel attribute is the best one, as the objective of the rel attribute is to provide hints on the information organization and not it's presentation.. For presentation issues, there's the class attribute and that's the one that IMHO should be used. That's actually what's used by the greybox and thickbox modules, which do work with the Printer-Friendly module.

Maybe this has been debated before...

Helping you guys here: the solution for this is in #1606616: email link to open in lightbox frame (with rel attribute)
