Hello Drupal, Hello members ..
I'm looking forward to build a community at www.youtips.net
youtips is an online article directory collecting tips and tricks in different categories ..

The Idea is to seperate two communities , or more specifically two classes of members , Writers (or authors) and readers ..
Writers will subscribe two a custom script (made by me) , and readers will be subscribed to a different cms ..

So I'm trying to find out the best cms that fits my needs ..
I will use only a well known cms , so I'm hesitating between Joomla and Drupal ..

Can Drupal handle my needs ?

What I need is :
- Community building : Forums , member groups , chat rooms
- Yahoo answer like add on/Module
- Feedback add on/Module
- FAQ add on/Module

Another question , is there a way to display some Drupal features in external pages ?
Example , if I install Drupal in www.mysiteexample.com/community , can I display latest forum posts or latest groups in www.mysiteexample.com ???

Finally , If I use Drupal , which version do you recommend . 5, 6 or 7 ?

Thanks for taking the time to answer me .. I appreciate it.
Magnito.

Hi

- Community building: There is a core Forum module - it's rather basic but can be improved with Advanced Forum module. It still won't be as whizzy as phpBB so depends on what features/functionality you need.

- Member groups: OG module allows users to create their own groups, and groups can have their own homepage etc. Plenty of other features too.

- Chat rooms: Chat Room module, phpfreechat module... a few basic options there.

- Other community things: User Relationships module (for making contacts/friends/buddies) and Privatemsg module for messaging.

- Yahoo Answers and FAQs: Answer here

- Drupal stuff in external pages: Only RSS feeds come to my mind, using Views module. There many be some clever methods that I don't know about.

- Version: v6 is the way to go. It's too early for v7

Thank you

Thanks a lot for answering ..
Before you reply , I read several articles comparing Drupal and Joomla .. and I was about 85 % to use Drupal ..

Now , It's 100 % ..
Thanks.
