BoWoB 6.x-7.3 is tested on Drupal 6.12 and works perfect.

Is your Drupal from the official package ?
Have you any module working in your Drupal ?

hello bowob

my test environment is a CVS multisite installation with a good number of modules.
I also installed the bowob module via CVS
The files bowob.module and bowob.info sit in var/www/drupal/sites/all/modules/bowob

I suspect this is a path problem because
Part 1 of the installation instructions on bowob.com under Home > Chat Administration > Install wants the files located here:

"File must locate: 'http://mysitename/sites/all/modules/bowob/bowob.module' "

Prob persists with bowob put into the site-specific modules folder at /var/www/drupal/sites/mysitename/modules

Thanx 4 your help.

I run drupal on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
The command I used to install Drupal via CVS is:
cd /var/www
sudo cvs -z6 -d:pserver:anonymous:anonymous@cvs.drupal.org:/cvs/drupal co -r DRUPAL-6-12 -d drupal drupal

The default site paths are as indicated in #2

cheers.

Let me just point out that the installation method in #4 is a standard procedure.
It is common practice to install drupal from the official cvs repository.

The incompatibility message occurs when installing bowob via CVS repository.
Work around = manual download via link on the bowob homepage.

So manual download via bowob homepage and http://drupal.org/project/bowob is working for you ?

I just tried installing the module via downloading from the http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/bowob-6.x-7.3.tar.gz link and installing it into my sites/all/modules directory.
I activated it via the Administration -> modules page and saw that it added a "Chat" menu, but there is no controls page via Administer -> By-Module or anything remotely related to "Chat" or "bowob" in the Administer page... and when I click on the "Chat" menu, it takes me to the home page and does nothing...
Would be nice for at least a single page of documentation telling users what to expect with a fresh install...

Oh yeah, Drupal 6.12, installed from the official download at http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/drupal-6.12.tar.gz

Also, I have multiple other modules installed and working fine: WebFM, Fck Editor, CCK, Node Comment, Swf Tools, Views...

You need "Create your Chat" at http://www.bowob.com/

There you will find the documentation.
