Roster Tied to User Profile: WoW specific

Trilless - May 25, 2009 - 08:55

I keep searching and hoping that the wow-armory sync modules will eventually get updated but it seems they have been set aside. I've hit a few stumbling blocks and I'm hoping some enterprising individuals here will help me out.

So.... I'm undertaking to make a guild roster for a World of Warcraft Guild site.

I was able to find some handy php scripting that enabled me to pull the desired information from the wowarmory.com's xml. Its very rough at the moment, but its a jumping off place at least. I still need to find a way to make it sortable and much less ugly, but it does list some great info, and links to the character profiles at the armory quite handily.

However, I'd like to tie in the user profiles to the roster. I am familiar with the user lists that drupal uses, and would like to make something similar but that also includes my roster information. Is there a module that currently works to tie into the user profiles in this way? If not, where would an enterprising person start to poke at the user code to make it work?

Secondly, I am wanting to make a block on my user profiles (I'm using Advanced Profile) that pulls from the armory as well. Unlike the roster, where I can go in and input the url with all the variables (server/guild name) I'd like to be able to pull the character name and server from the profiles in drupal. (Because writing/copy&pasting new code for each new user makes sad codepandas) Any help in pointing me the place to start looking into that project would appreciated.
