I am completely confused!
I installed the drush files on my debian server. Outside my Durpal root, as proposed. The link is established.
When I start 'drush' on the command line in the drupal root, I get a message : "Drush: You must enable the Drush module"
Which module? I cannot find a Drush module anymore (or am I just too confused to find it?)
Sorry for the possibly stupid question and many thanks for any hint!
Christophe

adrian commentedyou might have the old version of drush installed somewhere,
with an alias set to that drush.
remove all instances of drush 1.x

owen barton commentedIf you get the message : "Drush: You must enable the Drush module" I think you must be running an old version of drush (not just that you have an old version installed elsewhere, although that will cause problems too). I don't think that string even exists in the latest version. Check that the tarball you downloaded and unpacked is Drush 2.x-dev, and that the symlink is pointing at that version too.
