Im wondering is there a module available that will enable a scrolling news ticker on my site. The kind of ticker they have across the bottom of the screen on news channels. Anyone know?

Some of the modules shown here http://drupal.org/node/418616 will probably be what you are looking for. For instance, Views Rotator, Views Slideshow, Views Cycle, etc can rotate not just images but any fields you have in a View (e.g. node titles, or any other fields you want). Some include various transition effects. The most effects I've seen are in the Views Cycle module.
