Dear maintainer,

The external link image is to the left of the link in a right to left display.

If the image is supposed to be at the beginning of the link, then it should be to the right of it in RTL.

This is the correct behavior. The image is at the end of links. This means the image is on the right side in LTR, and on the left side in RTL (as you report).
