It is not as feature laden as Aggregator2 but works the same way and some people may not want nodes automatically created - even though, that is a neat feature..
Could someone briefly summarize the difference between the Aggregator module in core 4.7 and the Aggregator2 module? Maybe a better question would be, what improvements have been made in the aggretator module between 4.6.5 and 4.7 Beta? Are these improvements enough to not need Aggreator2?

Aggregator2 module
The Aggregator2 module will do that for you - it creates a new node per RSS item it retrieves.
