Issue Summary
Didn't see this in the readme: are the imported accounts supposed to preserve there passwords or is losing them by design?

Passwords aren't imported simply because Wordpress doesn't include them in the WXR export file. This is unlikely to change.
Updated the README in 6.x-2.x-dev.
