At the last meeting I suggested we start the Berkeley meeting by showcasing sites we have built. I was thinking through the practical aspects of this and realize that if we all give the showcase the time it deserves (one or two minutes) half the meeting will be over.

A better way is to simply attach a message to this comment if you plan to come. Include links to your sites and anything you would like to highlight about their design, developement or use.

I am wondering why the event is held from 3pm-6pm.

Unless this is just for students in UC Berkeley, I don't see many people can make it that early.

It should be something like from 6pm to 8pm.

Good question. We discussed this extensively. We arrived at the earlier time because we wanted to favor professionals who will be able to justify to their workplace taking the time during the day. There is never a perfect time. For me for example 6pm to 8pm is family time - since I do this for a living I make time in my workday for it. It may very well be that in the future the time of the meeting is changed. It is interesting to note that the last meeting was held at this time and attracted well over 50 people.

So your focus is only on the professional who can do this because they are professionals then? That's a good thing to know. It will probably exclude me from ever attending in that case. Getting off work hours for hobbyists can be difficult.

Presumably it will be influenced by the next host and a discussion in today's meeting.

Do you feel strongly enough about this to offer to host the next meeting?

I am in Sacramento. My house being a little on the small side, I can investigate local area venues like the library if you think the Bay Area group would be willing to go the 80-100 miles to attend as I was planning on doing.

Getting off work an hour early is a little different from getting off work at noon to attend. drob's comment though seems to indicate that your group is exclusively focusing only on professionals after consideration amoung the professionals in attendance.

I am interested in joining the meeting tomorrow. We are currently developing drupal websites and would like to get familiar with the technoloby via networking. I would be interested in viewing showcased sites so we could learn from it.

I live in SF Bay Area and also run a site using drupal (www.algogeeks.com).

If the agenda is interesting, I would like to join in.

Adrian Freed’s picture

We will make sure the agenda is interesting for everyone who shows up.
Please let me know what you would like to discuss.

There appears to be a critical mass of UC Berkeley users to justify running a regular meeting and I keep running into East Bay drupal developers and users. I would like to discuss the formation of an East Bay Drupal User Group today.

When and where does the East Bay Drupal User Group meet?

Adrian Freed’s picture

The next meeting of the Bay Area user group is being planned. I expect it will be posted on the main drupal site.

A framework for local user groups still hasn't been announced as far as I know.

I saw the sites you guys put together, its nice. I have some questions for you about drupal use, how can I reach you?
