I'm really excited about this module, however I can't seem to get my head round why the gift certificate works as if it's something an administrator provides a user.

Why when you create a gift certificate is it not automatically a product in your store? It would be great if you were able to create 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 dollar/pound gift certificates that a user can purchase as products in your store.

Unless I'm missing something, I can't get it to work like this. So far I can only create a gift certificate which needs a 'Gift Certificate Name' and value, purchaser and creator. I don't need to pay for the gift certificate either...?? - is it just for administrators to give out to users?

I'm sure I'm just being a bit dumb about it. Any hints would be great.

The 5.x version works this way, but we are still actively porting the code over to 6.x. I wasn't aware that this wasn't working but it should be fairly easy to implement (or re-implement, as the case may be...)

It's definitely working as you thought it should in the 6.x version now. Give beta2 a try and see if it works for you. Remember, after creating a product you'll need to then add the Gift Certificate attributes (Recipient's Email, Message, etc) to the product.
