Using Drupal for karting club
I am using Drupal for my karting club, my-kart.org (http://www.my-kart.org/).
It meets most of my requirements as a community driven CMS (forums, blogs, image galleries, calendar etc).
If only I have a working knowledge of php & mysql, I'd give a shot at building a drivers / events database module to keep track of driver scores by event and perhaps even driver / user / member racing profiles (eg, how many race wins / points this season / career etc). Any help / volunteers would be appreciated.
I am using a slightly modified Manji theme. Shame that Drupal's theme selections are not as rich as Wordpress (the admin and add content pages, are also not that snazzy).
Happy to receive your feedbacks on the above.
cheers

also wanted to add that it would be great to have a way to get members to register online for a particular race event, rather than using the comments mode as I do now.
you can log on using -
User: Visitor
Password: password
http://www.my-kart.org/
Event sign up
TO register online, the webform module is useful you can add textfileds and options etc whether to ask users to supply personal info and contact numbers.
With CivicCRM there is the RSVP module which is sort of creating invitations for an event.
Note that I am not Drupal specialist myself, I just learned all these enthusastically and my site http://muslimin.org/ummah has the event/rsvp/webform module

Fazz, I just found your site through google and submitted a registration request, but now found this as well so guess I can log in as a visitor.
I'm also looking to set up a Drupal based site to manage a karting club. We hold about 10 races per year and I'm looking for a way to record results as you mention above, so will come back here and update as it progresses. How hard can it be to learn a bit of PHP & SQL and cobble together a new module etc.! A colleague of mine at work wrote exactly this sort of website functionality in ASP, so I'll try to get some help from him.
I recently installed gallery2 and the Drupal Gallery module to use it with, and it does make hosting and uploading new photos very much easier.
