forum on the entire width of themes

I wanted a forum to extend the full width themes. do it by turning off all the blocks. But here is the gray bar and left the area not to hide

Yes, which file did you modify or add to accomplish this?
EDIT: nevermind, I added a page-forum.tpl.php page, changed some CSS, and all is good now.
I am, however, trying to figure out how to do this exact same thing for another specific content type, but I am not having much luck. I can't change it just for the image content type I have without changing it for all other nodes. any ideas on that would be appreciated...
