taxonomy question

anyone know whats steps are needed to make new content inherit taxonomy terms? say if i present a view to my users with taxonomy terms. then the user clicks one of the terms... and goes to another view. if the user decides to post content how could i force the content (new node) to inherit the term that was selected from the previous view. If their is a module available for this or something similar i would like to know if it. but if their is a way to store form variables by calling some function i would like to know of this as well.
