In Drupal 5 Zen used the Theme Settings API module but most of Theme Settings API made it into Drupal 6. The bits that didn't make it are still in the Theme Settings API contrib module and I was just wondering if the Drupal 6 version of Zen still uses Theme Settings API module?

It is not listed in the documentation for 6.x, but is specifically mentioned in the 5.x documentation. I would say, no it isn't needed.
