there is always a but :)
I think this is a great module with stacks of flexibility but I would really like a step-by-step
tutorial for an example using any non-trivial logic on
fields of a custom node type. I see that a lot of effort has already gone into documentation
but for newbies (like me) its just not coming together yet.
I've got it going for make a custom field be equal to current user but thats it.
I'll help flesh out the example as long as its detailed enough to get me going!
Either way thanks for the great module.

merlinofchaos commentedAt DrupalCon, I got two volunteers to help write the new user documentation, which is quite the bonus for you, I think; I'm pretty decent at writing the deep, detail oriented docs, but it's pretty hard for me to back off enough to write something for the complete beginner.
Documentation should appear at some point; hopefully this issue will track its progress.

venkat-rk commentedJust adding a post to track this issue. I may be able to help with some parts of the documentation at least.
merlinofchaos commentedI wrote a bunch of end user docs for the current 4.7 tagged version of Views.
I still need a tutorial.
And the API/theming docs are out of date and VERY out of date, respectively.

drupalec-1 commentedA step-by-step tutorial on using the views module to make a very simple block

sepeck commentedPerhaps this could be added to the handbook to centralize them with the rest?
drupalec-1 commentedSepeck,
Sure. They've been submitted as issues under Documentation, according to the handbook instructions. They are at nodes 58595 and 58596. They only cover very basic views. Glad you like them.
