Cannot login to a site using an "external login"

E.G. My login here is Cromicon
To login elsewhere is Cromicon@drupal.org plus password
This works once.
Log out.
Log in as someone else.
Log out.
Try to login as an external user.
Fails.
Error: Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in /xxxxx/xxxxx/public_html/modules/legal/legal.module on line 118

Incompatibility issue with drupal.module.
