my english is not good - i hope you understand me!
Yesterday i downloaded the german Drupal version (6.12) .... I uploaded to server, make a new DB and Drupal asked "Installation in English or german" ...
I click german - all follow installation-text is in german now ...
The installation finished without problems .... nice - i think but by my first Login in "Admin/Administer" i see - its all in English .... i am looking in "Administer - > site Configuration -> Languages" - there is "german" as default and enabled .... but the left menu and all text in Administer are in english beyond .....
The german de.po file is online - in this file all words are correct translated ....
I installed Drupal on other server - but there is the same problem!
What i make wrong?

Can you change the admin user language?
Can you change the language for your admin user?
If that doesn't work, this is what I did:
I downloaded the English version and then downloaded the German translations 6.x-1.0-rc1 from http://drupal.org/project/de
You unpack this file into the main Drupal directory.
Of course, since I have my default language as English, I had to enable the multilingual core modules at this point. I'm not sure if you will have to do this.
Now go to a Site building -> Translate interface -> Refresh to import any translations which are missing. Be sure to tick all the check boxes that apply.
