I'm sure if it is down you're already working on the problem, but I just wanted to post this to ensure you were aware that we can't view any of your sites... well at least I can't... anyone else?

drigg-code.org etc all unable to resolve. Have been for some time... hope everything is ok?

(Apologies for using the issues queue to post this - but thought it likely if your server was down that your contact form email may be down too - feel free to close this issue when you've seen this)

Hi,

3fn, a MAJOR hosting provider, was shut down.
All of my sites, including Free Software Magazine, that pays my bills, is down.

I am restoring things onto a new server run by OpenHosting. It's a 4GB upload, which will take time.

Plus, I have just realised that I don't have a backup for openX, which means I have to contact all of my advertisers. Now.

Ugh.
It's a bit like that at the moment. It's an unprecedented move, the shut down of a whole provider, and some 15000 servers are now off.

Oh crap. Yeah I had noticed that FSdaily was down as well, figured it was something pretty bad that happened. That really sucks, you must be in a world of pain right now. Hope you get it all back online with minimal disruption mate.

But thats crazy, 15000 servers zapped?! Ah, I just read why the FTC shut them down, sounds like perhaps its not such a bad thing you're leaving that dodgy IP neighborhood behind - but still a massive pain to have to do it this way of course!

I don't know about "dodgy". I know that the current press is not favourable, but at the same time a *lot* of providers out there have netbots after getting hacked or from customers... it's not an easy one.

Spam levels haven't decreased a little bit. And I have lost the script that created drigg_distr.tgz amongst other things...

Ugh. Super ugh.

Yeah thats true, just seemed to me from the FTC announcement a rather long list of activity I personally wouldn't want to be hosted anywhere near - but you're right, it probably is a fairly widespread problem that's difficult to address. That openvps host looks interesting. Anyway, hope you get on top of it soon!

Also - Hi - I only just found Drigg, and have plans for a site forming already, so will try and help out with testing to clear the backlog of issues - once you're back up and running of course.

Mediafrenzy: Any help right now would be _really_ appreciated. Especially if you can code...
I am clearing up EVF (very very very nearly there) and User Karma (not much more to do) before I start really attacking Drigg. Which is scary. The main thing is that I need people able to test things, code, etc. Pragmatism is the key...

Alas I cannot code. But yeah comfortable enough nosing around in code to change the odd piece here or there, if I have some clue what it does :)

And should be able to help out with some testing I hope, as long as real life doesn't get in the way too much. This Drigg project looks like an incredibly useful tool to have in my drupal knowhow, so I'm trying to get to grips with it all now.
