New block display based on page view : easy?

Hi,

I'm sure this is pretty easy, but somehow not getting the secret to this.

I have a page view and added a block display. The thing is I want the block to display less fields than the page display.

When I change the block display with less fields, the page view removes those fields as well ..

I've tried cloning the view, but then my block with 'more link' does not point to my new page view.

Any help would be most appreciated, and thank you for this tremendous module.
