You can turn off freelinking prefix if you are sure, that all freelinks are functional.
> makes possible to link to nonsegment content, such as ubercart catalogs.
[ ] URLs can contain slashes?
You can turn off decoding URLs to use more complex paths.
>makes you able to use freelinks as [catalog/group1|group 1 in my catalog]. warning: these should be rather used where only admins add site's content to avoid security problems.

Grayside commentedThis functionality is best realized in FL3. A UC Freelinking module could provide functionality such as [[catalog:group1]].
Because the specific requests already exist in FL3 I am marking this Fixed.
New development and feature requests should be submitted for 6.x-3.x-dev. Modifications should be submitted as patches.
