I installed version 6.x-3.x due to performance problems of Administration menu on firefox. When I first entered the site, I could see the red admin menu properly. However, after visiting another page on the site, trash characters started to be shown on at the top of the page instead of admin menu. Even after returning to the first page, trash characters are shown. Refreshing by ctrl+f5 does not solve it. Both IE8 and firefox 3 gave the same behavior. Did not have such a problem with version 1.x.

probably because of character encoding mismatch

Did you run update.php?

You can follow up on that issue to track its status instead. If any information from this issue is missing in the other issue, please make sure you provide it over there.
