The Zero Point theme recently changed its project node title to "0 Point", which is not correct IMO. It should be titled "Zero Point".

Intentional or not, this has the effect of promoting it from last to first in the theme list...

I changed it back since none of the other references to the module name in the description were also changed. I made sure to put a note in the revision log explaining why I reverted the name. Please notify us if it changes back again.

Dave,
I understand your point. In fact the name of the theme reflects my work on "0 point energy", meaning that at 0 Farenheit it is a lot of energy, so the correct name is "0 point". Anyway, sometimes the last is the same like the first. :)

I would guess the maintainer does not want the name to be changed to Zero Point.
Why was the issue opened here and not in the project issue queue? Until the title of the project page title doesn't contain anything offensive, it should not require a webmaster to change the project title back.

Consider the maintainer had *only* changed *just* the project title to "0 point" and left all existing documentation, screenshots, and mentions of the theme's name referencing "Zero point" it was viewed as a blatant attempt to get his theme listed at the top (alphabetically), which is not allowed. This issue has been fixed and the maintainer has agreed to keep the name. If he wants to change it and all existing references as well, we can open it up to more discussion. Otherwise, this is fixed and there's nothing more to discuss.

"Fixed" again and project locked by setting input format to full html.

Contacted maintainer and pointed them here.

If it were a bad theme or a "copy theme" I would understand your position. What is wrong with a name that reflects our work in physics - 0 POINT ENERGY? Anyway, there are people at Drupal deciding to erase good comments at http://drupal.org/node/507792. Probably a good idea is to rename that page also or erase it.

Is it possible to erase the entire theme? I am not sure we want to share it anymore!

Fyi book pages are not an acceptable place for comments. Comments elaborating or expanding on the content are folded into the page before removing, Non sequiturs and and other irrelevant comments are simply removed. The forums are a place for discussions while the handbook is for documentation.

You mentioned how people are erasing good comments on a handbook page. That is the policy for handbook pages - see http://drupal.org/node/21923 among other places.

The problem with naming it "0 point" is that you didn't. You named it Zero point. This is confusing to end users and webmasters. Even to this day the 0 point name is not consistently used on the project page:

The page title is "Zero point" because I did that, but if in fact it were named that way to "reflect your work in physics" then wouldn't you want that reflected everywhere?

I also noticed that you linked out to demo sites above the teaser, which is not appropriate.

After the creation of the theme you changed it to "0 point" which looks like you were trying to get it to the top of the list. After being contacted for an explanation you didn't explain and changed it back to "0 point." When people ignore the community process the community becomes more concerned that the actions are being done with an inappropriate motivation.

If my understanding of this timeline of events is wrong, please let me know.

It's also funny how you created an issue (#524952: Incorrect project title) to gather support behind changing the name to '0 Point'. Included is my response in that issue:

I don't like the idea of renaming "0 Point" theme to "Zero Point"

For anyone who reads this, this is misinformation. The original name of the module was "Zero Point, as you can clearly see on the original project's page here: http://drupal.org/node/478420/revisions/575784/view. The maintainer himself only changed the project title to "0 Point" in what could only be interpreted as an attempt to be listed at the top of the themes listing. The Drupal.org webmasters changed it back.

apaderno’s picture

To notice that the physics concept Florian is referring to is "zero-point energy"; there are no rules that force you to write "0 point energy" to mean the physics concept.

Also supposing that only "0 point" would be correct, in which way is the theme so closely related with the physics concept that it must adopt the same name of the physic concept?

The point is that the project title has been changed, but any reference to the theme still uses "Zero Point"; if renaming the theme was so important, then every reference to the theme should have been changed as well.

Dave Reid’s picture

Yes, if you're going to give the only reason to rename this project is because of the pysics, the Wikipedia defines the term as "zero-point energy" not "0-point energy". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-point_energy

Renaming the theme should have a valid reason besides trying to game the system.

Title: Incorrect Project Title » Incorrect project title

It seems that the reference to zero-point energy is just an excuse to use the number zero in the theme name.

Just to make an example, it would be like I name a theme 883 after an Italian pop group, and then nothing in the theme reminds of the pop group. What would the real reason of naming the theme 883 be?

Thanks for your support.
