I have created a secondary menu item which links to my sites contact form. Lightbox keeps adding a child item to it. The item links to contact/lightbox2 which is a lead link.
How can I prevent lightbox from adding this menu item?

stella commentedDisable the contact form feature on admin/settings/lightbox2.

cronix commentedI did that. But I still keep the menu item. Strange thing is that I don't see the item in the menu administration page.

stella commentedIf the lightbox2 option is disabled, the 'lightbox2' should not be added to the menu item. It may just be a simple matter of clearing your Drupal and browser caches.
cronix commentedThe option is disabled. I have cleared all cashes. I have even deleted the menu entry from the menu_links table. The entry is added to that table as soon as I refresh my page.

stella commentedCan you try out the latest dev version of the lightbox2 module? Don't worry it's stable. However, there were some changes to that code not too long ago, so maybe this issue has been fixed which is why I can't reproduce it. Let me know how you get on.

cronix commentedI have just tried the latest dev. It's not fixing my issue. The menu item is still inserted in the menu_links table. Strange that you cannot reproduce the issue. What could be the difference between our installations?
stella commentedI don't know - can you provide a link to your site? My contact form is enabled if you wish to do so privately (just quote issue number)
Cheers,
Stella
