Description
I installed Userpoints 6x-1x-dev and I see that all points have category "Uncategorized". I want to categorize them, but how!? I see no any menu to create Userpoints Category and also when I add points there is no any Category selection.

you need to activate taxonomy to use userpoints categories. install the taxonomy module. empty cache. go to admin/content/taxonomy and you will probably find a new taxonomy called userpoints. enter which ever terms you like. and then back to the userpoints settings page and select your categories.
if userpoints taxonomy is not created after enabling taxonomy module, then disable and enable userpoints. it wll be created after that.

Yeah but you still can't categorize points. For example, the userpoints_commentspertype doesn't let me link it to a certain category, e.g. Comment Points. Points can only be given to Uncategorized.
Even the rules integration doesn't let you set a category. You can "add points to a user" on e.g. node publication, but you cannot set the category, e.g. Points for User Rules. It all ends up in Uncategorized, which completely misses the point of having categories in the first place.
Userpoints has been under development for years, since early drupal 5.x, but basic functionality is still missing. However, we do have 20+ great add-ons. I'm being sarcastic: as a developer/programmer I always focus on the basic stuff first, making sure that works at all.

Waiting for the answer too.

I'm interested in this issue too, but have to disagree a bit with mxistence - user points is a great module and has *lots* of the basics down!
I'm also hoping to have different types of point awards go into different categories automatically. I have terms in the user points vocabulary called things like "content creation" "comments" "logging in" etc.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Maybe, this is an issue on the contributing modules. I'm only using userpoints_nc and I'm not able to set categories for the different node types. I guess, that userpoints_nc should enable the user to select a category for the points, given for the creation of a certain node type.

@Earl Grey. I've posted a patch at #421304: Userpoint node/comment categories that should do what you are looking for. If you are interested, please test the patch and leave some feedback on that issue.

Thanks for that patch. I have no need for the categories at the moment and I have tremendous problems finding an easy sollution for applying patches on windows. I'm using eclipse for another module, but I don't want to import every module, only for applying one patch. I'll go more into testing, when there is a simple programm (with a gui), that makes applying patches easyer.
