I'm very confused about the "url aliases" module.

It seems that the aliases are 302 redirects instead of the Google preferred 301 permanent redirects. What was the benefit to making the module build 302's?

Does any one have recommendations on how to optimize a drupal site to avoid getting sitemap errors in the Google Webmaster tool.

I'm getting the following error as a result of the 302 redirects:

URLs not followed
When we tested a sample of URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs redirect to other locations. We recommend that your Sitemap contain URLs that point to the final destination (the redirect target) instead of redirecting to another URL

Thanks,
Greg

Are you using the XML sitemap module or generating the sitemap yourself or ?

I used path aliases in the sitemap, and I have never gotten that error message.
