I've been working with UC Variable Price and UC Add to Cart Tweaks recently, both of which implement their features using the Ubercart Feature mechanism, which I previously did not realize even existed. However, I'm convinced that it would be more of a correct way to implement what UC Auction does.
If I ever get to work on an UC Auction 2.0…
