I have drupal installed under my /weblog subdirectory. When I try to log into some Drupal website using myID@myhost.com, it doesn't work. myID@myhost.com/weblog doesn't work either. If I move drupal to the root directory it's fine. Any workaround?

Yes, you need to install in your root for this to work.

No offense, but I dislike the "by design" categorie and think it is overused; it has an arrogant smell to it. So the bug might be "by design", but that doesnt mean it is smart design.

So relabeling this to a feature request, and a valid one for that matter. I dont see why installing drupal in a ~myuserid (for old unix people) or /test dirs, should punish people of not being able to log in to another drupal site.

Any update on this or has it long been fixed? But looks like I am having the same problem. I installed my drupal in a subdirectory and couldn't log in to other drupal sites. Does it also affect drupalapi module? I am testing an external application that takes use of XMLRPC to automatically posts daily summaries to my blog. It works on a few other testing drupal sites, but I was told by the developer that mine gives them 'permission denied' error messages. I am not sure if it's also because my drupal is installed in a subdirectory? Can anybody fix this please? Thanks.
