Description

Working with Dries, rkerr and agentken, we came up with the following items for this module:

  1. We need to advertise this module and convince people to check it out and get feedback about where people believe administration items should go, and whether the existing categories are accurate.
  2. We need to get module maintainers and developers to try out the module and use their menu hooks to put their menus where they should go. We need to provide guidelines to help modules decide where the less obvious administrative tasks might go.
  3. For core, we need to create a smaller version of the module that doesn't actually re-organize the menus; instead, core will actually contain the new layout normally. Guidelines generated from above will be provided

  • We need to answer some extant questions -- Amazon's research can be very helpful with this. An example question is "What *is* a setting?". Existing core modules need to be evaluated to where their 'settings' really belong. For the most part much of this is already done, but not quite all of it.

Two comments that came up:

We should consider adding a section specifically geared toward administrationg users.
We should consider patching l() so that off-site links (those that don't start with base_url) should have a different class in the A tag.

Where can we get hold of Amazon's research summary?
