Hello,
Diff is a really good feature and should be developed further. I am currently trying it in 4.7.0beta3 and have found it seems to work really well with the core node types, but when I try to use Diff with flexinode it does not display any results.

Is this correct behaviour or can it be fixed?

Flexinode doesn't store revisions between edits, so no, it is currently not possible.
