in dba I get "The automatic backup path does not exist, or is not writeable. Automatic backups will not begin until you fix this error."

I know the folder exists on my server and I have chmod to 777 (also tried 755).

I have tried a folder in my root and also in the same subfolder as my test Drupal site.

I have checked with the web host and they can see no issues at their end.

I have used an absolute address.

Can anyone help a raving newbie who is beginning to wonder what he's got into?

I just wanted to chime in that I've tried the same steps and am getting the same (bad) result. Looking forward to finding out what's going on wiith this.

FWIW, I tried going in the other direction with the path, and it worked. The default path is, I believe, "tmp/" I removed the trailing slash, and now the program works. I received my first backup via email as scheduled, and a backuo was automatically created in a tmp file at the site root. Go figure.

Sorry. That was a leading slash, as in "/tmp". In any case, no slashes seems to do the trick.

Thank you for posting this solution. It worked (partially) for me too.

I am now getting backups to the tmp folder on the server, and I am getting regular emails with "Database backup attached" in the body - but no attachments!
