If I click on a freelink, I want to be sent to an intermediate page that allows me to select a format. The settings page for freelinking talks about the chosen format as a "default" but it is not a default, because you are not offered the chance to pick another format. I would like to be sent to a page that will show me a list of formats which are considered acceptable for freelinks.

I also would like to be able to customize that page. I guess I could do it in the code, so that's okay. But what I'm actually trying to accomplish is to copy a bunch of content from everything2.com and they use very much the same concept. Their syntax is [link|text]. Just to clarify, let me describe what I want to happen when someone clicks on a freelink:

1) The local system is searched for a link with the appropriate title (like now)
2) If one is found, it's displayed
3) If not, I get sent to another, reasonably customizable (if only in the code) page that will allow me to select any of the formats allowable for a freelink. I also want it to have search links on it that I control (this is the customizable part.) So I could send them over to everything2 to look up missing freelinks, so they can see them there.
4) If I click on a node type, I create a new node of that type with the title from the freelink.

Is this reasonable? Is it major? I could try to do it myself, but I want to find out if I have to first.
