I've followed all the instructions for preparing to install. Have to to customer service for server (host is Verio), but when I put the install url in the browser, it just returns an error msg.

I've checked permissions both on files and on the database. What else could it be?

asnevitt,
I've just brought up a Drupal development site, so I'm pretty fresh on it. I think we (Drupal community) can get you going, but we need a little more info.

What is your configuration (op sys, browser, etc) and environment (DB & version, PHP version, web server)? It looks like you're using an outside vendor to host. What kind of security do you have to get through? What error message are you getting? What is the URL you're entering?

I think that'll help us get you zero'd in! Hang in there - it's worth it. A lot of folks have trouble getting through the installation. It took me 3 weeks, but I'm not a web developer! But once it was up (my next-door neighbor heard the "WAHOO"!), I had my first 3 pages up in 30 minutes. That was last week - now I'm building a maintenance page to load a DB with photos and indexed information!

Hi, thank you for responding. Sorry to be so long getting back. This project is a 'sideline', as it were.

I'll will have to look into the version information that you requested. The host is Verio. This site is on a virtual host owned by a friend. I have installed Drupal on my own hosted site without a hitch. Not sure why this one is so troublesome.

I have spoken to tech support at Verio and they say that everything is in place on their end.

I know that the MySQL version is 5.0.51A.
Not sure about PHP (though, I know they told me and now I can't find the email. urgh.)

The message that gets returned is:
[an error occurred while processing this directive] The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
