Advice on build for photo site

Hi

I've been asked by a friend to put a site together for them. They are a photographer and they want a site that lets them easily upload and display their work.

They want to be able to tag the photos in some way and categorise them so that through the search function users can easily find photos that suit their needs.

They then want the user to be able to order the photos of their choice. This does not necessarily need to involve online payment it could just be that people fill a basket and that "basket" gets submitted as an e-mail for my friend to then follow up and fulfil.

Has anybody built a similar sort of site... ? What advice can anyone give on the modules to use and should I use Drupal 5 or 6?

I am leaning towards Brilliant gallery for the display of the photos and it looks like if I use D6 then the interface for upload etc could be pretty good.

What about the ordering online? I see there is e-Commerce and Ubercart but these might be a bit... Well..... Sledgehammer to crack a nut! Any thoughts on what might work?

Anything else I should be considering, need to think of etc?

Bear in mind that I am no pro. I have built, launched and continue to run my own D5 based site that used a number of modules, views, cck, faceted search, etc etc but this new site that I've been asked to undertake is totally new territory for me so go easy on me :-)
