In phpmadmin

  • select the drupal database
  • click on the execute SQL button
  • in the text form, paste the contents of the /database/database.mysql file
  • execute...
  • your tables should be created and populated

/database/database.mysql file? Where is that????

Strange that the 'Documentation' doesn't have a phpMyAdmin step by step user guide!

why would drupal.org have phpmyadmin documentation?

If you've already populated the database, you don't have to do anything. The only other circumstance in which you have to interact directly with the database in when you install a module that requires a table to be added; using the steps paddy_deburca outlined above works great (not all modules require this, and I hear tell that an installer is being prepared).

You do all of the configuring of Drupal settings through the admin control panel on your new site.

Cheers,
Kim
