Warn the Drupal users from Midphase/Anhosting
Midphase and all their affiliates BLOCK port 80 and Drupal cannot use update status module and therefore you cannot normally update/check against vulnerabilities.
After couple of months (now you cannot cancel the payed hosting) I was in a situation that if I wanted use update status module i became a message:
Unable to fetch any information about available new releases and updates.
Searching Drupal forum I found topics about HTTP request fails (about HTTP request fails module, solving problem with Midphase in January 09 ...), but at this time all solutions failed.
Communication with Midpase support - only answers - :
=================== 1. answer===
Hello,
I apologize but your server is now blocking outbound port 80 which is the port HTTP requests are made on. This is because of security vulnerabilities involved with this. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist you. Thank you.

==================== 2. answer===
Hello,
Midphase has disabled outbound port 80 because there are known security issues related to leaving this port open. To look for upgrades for Drupal, you will need to go to drupal.org and check for their posted updates. Drupal is offered through Fantastico, although the only support we offer is the initial installation. Once the code has been installed and modified by the client, it is up to the client to maintain their sites security and keep their version of Drupal up-to-date. Again, if you want to look for Drupal upgrades, you need to go to Drupal.org to see their available updates. Let us know if you have further questions.

Maybe another user has a solution how to update Drupal without needs to manually search the download section of drupal.org.
If there is such solution is midphase hosting usable.

IT is confusing
I disabled some modules and now it is working. I do not know how to deal with this (and with the response from midphase), but I will try to enable modules again and I will report the conclusion later tomorrow.
Works for me
For the record, I don't have this problem on either of my AN Hosting accounts (I have two).

OK
OK,
I hope it was only 5 days problem. My message I wrote because midphase answers.
I have not recognised the troublemakers, because I have enabled more modules than before and all was OK - to this time I have enabled simpletest module (besides others) without following the instructions and now I have most (automatically- such possibility!) of modules disabled.
I think that it was a very bad problem recognision from midphase (I wrote them about http request fail as recognised here on forum in more topics and how it was solved by midphase in January 09 - described here in forum).
In other topic I wrote that I am satisfied with midphase, with the support, allowed php modifications, library installations, but that this is crucial if you have more modules and you must manually check drupal.org for vulnerabilities/updates.
B.t.w. I am affilliate to MidPhase/Anhosting
ANHosting
I can report that they did block me, but quickly unblocked me when I talked to them.
I don't defend any shared hosting solution, because none are perfect, but I was able to get mdphase fix the problem with little effort. I do have a ANHosting account, which is different then the main MidPhase account. I also have had some special needs and after spending weeks on the issue, and talking to the manager, they even offered to move me to a "Special" Server they have for customers who need even more changes. They were not going to charge me for that.
