'Affiliates' menu with image links

I was wondering how I could do that, since I need to link to some of my friends. I've previously tried this module: http://drupal.org/project/affiliate, but it's dependent module doesn't work on Drupal 6.10. Also, I want to add a text with some image links below the menus, in the free area, could anybody suggest what to do?
