FCKEditor

I_am_trying_to_... - June 13, 2009 - 09:35

I am going to go with this one, in preference to TinyMCE. In fact I am uploading it to one of my sites today as I tried to go WYSIWYG-free but even though I can code without it, it just won't work for the site members!

May I suggest you look at the WYSIWYG API module that allows you to integrate whatever WYSIWYG editor into Drupal.

Cool..

Ok might try the wysiwyg api, just read about it
But you need every editor installed or just the .js file for each?

I checked out this java based editor, but it's only trial

Liked how you can insert objects from the top menu

No, you just install

soundsational - June 13, 2009 - 12:35

No, you just install whichever one you want to use. Download the actual editor and upload this to the wysiwyg api module folder. It should auto detect it when it finds the editor in the folder.

In the wysiwyg api config page, you'll see which one is installed.

I've been struggling with this for days. Uploaded wysiwyg api then fckeditor (actually did it two ways one with just the library in wysiwyg and one with module and library in module in wysiwyg). Have not gotten it to work. Config page says no editor installed. ???????

You are so over-complicating this and flailing around all over the place. Disable and uninstall everything you've done so far (don't simply delete the directories, do an uninstall).

Then, download the fckeditor module (NOT wysiwyg module) and the actual fckeditor.net code itself and follow the instructions as described in the README.txt file.

I can assure you, the fckeditor module works-- I've been using it for some now.

I have started using FCK and

cantthinkofanickname - June 13, 2009 - 15:52

I have started using FCK and seems to work well but I cannot see how it will allow me to configure empty alt and title tags (alt="";) as this is a requirement for accessibility. There seems an awful lot of editors around so I'll stick with ones I've used with Joomla! PS "cool" is an emotional term and not one that can be used to judge anything seriously - a good comparison of editors would be good.

Thanks for your time.

I installed that wysiwyg api

sounds - June 13, 2009 - 18:48

I installed wysiwyg api mod, but don't see a need for all those..

When you could just install any one editor you want to test
Because you still have to install each editor for the api mod?
Allthough, sayin that, i'll probably have tryed a few editors

I uninstalled that for now and got TinyMCE, it's got plenty of features, pritty neat module
Not sure why fck editor didn't work, do you have to create 2 sub folders before uploading the fck mod?
ie. create sites/all/modules/fckeditor/fckeditor.. and then upload the fckeditor folder?

if using wysiwyg you shouldn't be using the fckeditor module from my reading. you simply install the library for fck and forego using the module itself.
