I'm trying to make the 'Remember me' module work with my Drupal installation, but it doesn't seem to be creating a cookie--or at least one that lasts for more than 0 secs!

you will likely get faster support for this by placing an issue in the issue queue of the module in question where those that use the module and are subscribed to the issue queue can take a long. Not all modules are widely used and as such forum support for them can be thin.
