installing Drupal 6 through WindowsXP?

Is there anyone out there that has installed Drupal 6 through WindowsXP? I'm stumped and don't know where to turn.

My Drupal files default to Mocrosoft Picture It files. What's up? I've downloaded more than once but get the same results.

Install WAMP stack

It sounds like you haven’t actually installed a web server on your system. You need to install what is known as a WAMP (Windows/Apache/MySQL/PHP) stack to set up a web server on Windows. There are several available – XAMMP and WampServer2 are very popular.

If you want to quickly learn about Drupal without the complexities of setting up and configuring a WAMP stack, you should download the Acquia Drupal DAMP stack available from www.acquia.com. This installation includes a complete, configured web server stack, the latest version (6.12) of Drupal, and an assortment of contributed modules.

Windows Install

I followed this very simple tutorial to install WAMP and then Drupal.
